Coping With the Great Depression






10 things the Braddock family did to cope with the Great Depression from 1929-1939

  1. Sold jewelry
  2. Dried socks in the oven
  3. Couldn't pay for gas and electricity 
  4. Braddock only got paid $50 for a fight instead of $8,000
  5. Fighting injured
  6. No money for kids to eat
  7. Broke wood for heat
  8. Son stole food so his family could eat
  9. Braddock gave his food to his daughter so she could eat
  10. Everyone slept in the kitchen
