Election Day

- Election Day was determined because Monday was not considered reasonable since May people would need to begin travel on Sunday. This would have conflicted with Church services and Sunday worship. November 1st is All Saints day, a Holy Day of Obligation for Roman Catholics. So it has to be after the first Monday of November.

- Election Day is a civic holiday in some states, such as Delaware, Hawaii, Kentucky, Montana, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, West Virginia, and territory of Puerto Rico.

- Election Day is on a Tuesday because Tuesday was chosen as people could begin their travels on a Monday, and to avoid traveling on the Sunday sabbath.
